CHOOSING A CERTIFICATE FOR 'The walls can talk' - LOOKING AT THE BBFC WEBSITE

Now I need to decide on a certificate or classification for my film, thus I have looked at the VVFC website to gain a clearer insight into the concept of appropriate age ratings for films from within the Psychological Drama genre. Most of the films within this genre have gained either a 15 or 18 certificate from the BBFC and this appears to be the most common classification of Psychological Drama films, along side the occasional 12A rating.

The BBFC is a company that classifies movies of all genres, age ratings and some of which are restrictive, such as 15 or 18, alongside providing reasonings behind the reasons why films have been given a particular classification (via the BBFC Insight), which allows audiences to decided weather or not a film is appropriate for them or their children. The BBFC divides their age ratings into five categories (which can all be found on the BBFC website Here):

U - suitable for all
PG - parental guidance
12A - cannot buy a film if under 12
12 - 12 and under, has to have parental supervision when watching in a cinema
15 - not suitable for under 15
18 - not suitable for under 18

The BBFC classifies films through their guidelines based on a range of categories including violence, strong language, nudity and sex, and easily recreated acts.
